Crackdown on Illegal Mineral Transportation in Peshawar

Authorities Seize Trucks and Warn Against Unauthorized Mining

Peshawar, January 30 (APP): The district administration of Peshawar has launched a major crackdown against illegal mining and mineral transportation in the Hassan Khel and Badaber areas. The operation, conducted under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Capt. (R) Sarmad Saleem Akram, was initiated following public complaints regarding unlawful excavation and transportation of minerals.

During the operation, authorities seized several trucks carrying illegally mined minerals, and the owners were taken into custody. In addition, timber transportation was also inspected to ensure compliance with forest regulations. While most transporters had valid permits issued by the Forest Department, some suspicious cases are under further investigation.

Deputy Commissioner Akram has directed continuous monitoring of mining sites and strict legal action against violators. He emphasized the need for collaboration between the local police, Forest Department, and Minerals Department to prevent illegal activities. Leaseholders have been warned against supplying raw materials to unauthorized crushing plants, with severe legal consequences for violations.

The Deputy Commissioner also urged the public to report any illegal mining, mineral transportation, or environmentally harmful activities to the district administration for prompt action.

This initiative is part of the provincial government’s efforts to protect natural resources and promote sustainable development.
